Overall, the situation is positive. The conifer log market has seen a solid price increase after the holiday period and the clearing of storage yards. Birch logs are showing a similar trend. Not all markets have experienced price rises yet, but the conditions are there. The most difficult situation is in the aspen pulpwood and firewood markets. A major buyer of aspen pulpwood has cut back production and, as a result, reduced its purchases. In the firewood market, prices haven’t really fallen, but producers of split firewood are still cautious about buying material.
